XXLA6 Firmware - Install Android 2.3.6 on Galaxy Note N7000 

The Samsung Galaxy Note which is been advertised all over by Samsung, is a phone and tablet combo, so what called as phablet. Yes, phablet receives a competitor and its LG Optimus Vu down the wire in head to head with Galaxy Note. Anyways coming back to the firmware updates, Galaxy Note N7000 has received an Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread update. This update to Galaxy Note N7000 is dubbed as XXLA6 and this brings a minor issue fixes and camera problems rectifications.

This update is available on the air to the Europe users but it’s now available for rest of the world as well via Odin tool and we are going through the procedure here in this article.

Pre Upgrade Instructions

Before going through the actual procedure of the firmware update you should go through the following pre upgrade instructions –

• Make sure that your devices is only Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 and not any other model released by Samsung or any other variant and it should be unlocked device.
• Charge your Galaxy Note to full charging and then proceed with the update.
• Please make sure that you enable USB debugging on your phone. Go to Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging and check it.
• Finally its important that you backup most of the things on your phone. Make use of the following –
  

  SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,

  Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,

  Call Log - Call Log and RestoreSongs, Videos & Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
  APN and MMS Settings – Note down manually via “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”.

Assuming that you have gone through the above steps, we will now proceed with the actual update procedure.

Procedure to Install Android 2.3.6 on Galaxy Note N7000 XXLA6 Firmware

Follow the procedure below to update your Galaxy Note N7000 –

• First you need to download the Android 2.3.6 XXLA6 firmware on your PC. Also download Odin3 v1.81.
• Extract the files once when they are downloaded. You should know the location where you are placing it.
• Launch the Odin3 v1.81 tool and let it install. If it’s installed previously with the same version you don’t need to install it again. Keep the Odin tool open.
• Now boot your phone in download mode, switch it off first and then press the volume down button along with OK button and holding both you need to tap on the Power button for few seconds until you see a droid getting on to the work for repair with Downloading written. Once you get that release all the three buttons.
• You need to connect your phone to PC using the USB cable and as soon as the connection is done, the ID:COM section of the Odin will turn into yellow and this is the indication of the successful connection between your PC and the phone.
• Please select Auto Reboot and F Reset Time checked and leave the other option unchecked.
• Now at the PDA button, click on it and navigate to the path where you seeN7000XXLA6_N7000OXXLA1_N7000XXLA4_HOME.tar.md5 file from the files that you have downloaded earlier.
• Now click on the Start button to begin the processor of flashing and don’t disconnect your phone during this phase.
• Your phone will be automatically reboots and once the media scanning is completed, you need to again reboot it, this time to get your phone in recovery mode.
• To get your phone in recovery mode, hold the volume up button + OK key and the power button simultaneously for few seconds.
• Within few seconds you will get the recovery menu and from that menu you need to select the option ‘Wipe data/factory reset’ and then select ‘Wipe Cache Partition’ and finally select ‘reboot system now’.
• Soon as your phone reboots you will be on the new firmware of Android 2.3.6 XXLA6. You can check this by going through Menu > Settings > About Phone and scroll down for the Android version.
